Climate

Credit Cards

Credit cards are accepted at most businesses including restaurants, shopping centers (malls) and gift stores, gas stations, grocery stores. Major credit cards include Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. ATMs are also located at many areas throughout Dresden.

Currency

The German currency is EURO (€). The official exchange rate is published daily in the newspapers. Exchange facilities are available at the airport, main train stations and exchange agencies. Cash and travelers checks are easily exchanged in banks and hotels. Most hotels and restaurants accept international credit cards. Exchange rates may vary. Electricity

Electric sockets are 230 volts AC, 50 Hz. European-style round two-pin plugs are in use. You need a transformer and a plug that fits the German socket.

Official Language

The conference language is English.

Passport and Visa

EU citizens only need their national identification document. Citizens from most other countries will need a valid travel passport. They are encouraged to contact their local German embassy or consulate to enquire about the necessity of a visa.
